How Do You Spell 'Free'?

Most people spell it F-R-E-E, as it should be. However, I've seen it spelled F-R-E-E-* more and more lately. Kids eat free* (*with adult purchase). Free* toy inside (*after purchasing the cereal). You can get a free* gift card (*if you'll sign up with one of our sponsors by providing your address, credit card number, and twenty minutes of your time). I'm sorry, but if I have to spend time or money or give out personal information to get something supposedly free, then whatever it is isn't really free.

Very few things in this world are truly free anymore. Air, aging, and water (in most but not all restaurants) are some examples. There is one thing that has been free for its entire existence. That one thing was paid for by Jesus on the cross. I'm talking about salvation and right standing with God (Romans 3:24). All you have to do is say "Yes" and it's yours. There's no asterisk with this free gift from God unless it's "Free* salvation (*with other great benefits)." We don't have to (and in fact, can't) do anything to make God love us more or less. He loves all people equally: unconditionally (John 3:16). But just like you can't get a free glass of water without asking a waiter for it, you can't get free salvation without asking God for it. But that's all you have to do! Cool, huh?

Like many other offers, free salvation is only available for a limited time. This offer expires when you do, so take advantage of it now, before it's too late.

God bless and have a great Sunday!
