Nutless Pea Butter VI: Freenut Butter

It's been more than a year since the last installment of NPB. I'm sure you've been waiting with the sticky brown nectar stuck to the roof of your mouth, so here goes...

Marissa and I haven't had to pay for peanut butter in a very long time. Uncle Sam helps out every once in a while, but more frequently, a coworker of mine brings several fully loaded grocery bags to work for me. I never asked him to do this. He just started doing it. And he brings some really good stuff: meat (freshly butchered!), vegetables, rice, beans, fruit, eggs, butter (the nutless pealess kind), and of course, a jar of creamy, wonderful (even though lacking the preferred crunch) peanut butter.

It's truly a blessing to receive so much food every 30 to 40 days. God has really shown Himself faithful to His Word about providing for our need (Philippians 4:19). This time around, we needed bread and cereal. We actually had them on our grocery list because we'd recently run out. And we got bread and cereal! We use a small dry erase board for our list because it's easily modified and very portable (saves paper too!). We have the aforementioned verse of Scripture at the top and we just write things down when we need them. Today, we were able to wipe two items off without spending a dime.

I encourage you to trust God for the things you need. He's been faithful to us, and believe me: we're nothing special. He'll be faithful to you as well if you but trust Him. Even for little things like a box of corn flakes and a jar of peanut butter.

Now, finally, go get a glass of milk and wash that well-aged nutless pea butter down; you've waited long enough!
