Nutless Pea Butter V: Nutomatic

Aren't sequels supposed to get progressively worse? That seems to be the trend with Hollywood anyway. But with peanut butter, my taste buds tell me they just keep getting better.

My buddy Kendall works in the healthy living department at the new
H-E-B plus! in Kyle and he was eager to show Marissa and me the grind-your-own peanut butter. It was pretty cool. They have five gizmos that look a bit like gum ball machines with a hopper for whatever kind of nut you want (today, they had four (4) different kinds of peanut and one with almonds), a spigot where the end product comes out, and a magic button that makes it all happen. It was a lot like the Play-Doh factory I had as a kid.

We sampled the honey roasted peanut butter. It was wonderfully tasty and sticky, but I really wanted a glass of milk afterward. Kendall was happy to direct us to the dairy section.

Two things I noticed about the machines:
  1. You have to be at least 18 years old to operate them. I guess the kiddos will have to make their own peanut butter the old fashioned way: with a bag of peanuts and their teeth.
  2. There was no option for crunchy peanut butter. I don't understand the grocery world's need to deprive me of crunchy peanut butter at every turn. Did I do something to deserve this or am I just nuts?
I don't know if there's any connection or not, but on the way home, I stopped and bought a paper shredder. I wonder how good it is at grinding nuts...
