High Fives All Around

Ever since Aidan was old enough to get the idea, I've been using the old high five as a reward for him whenever he does something worth rewarding. For example, when he learned to put his bath toys away, I gave him a high five for each toy. Just a simple, low-calorie, always available mechanism for positive reinforcement.

Tonight, just after dinner, Marissa wanted to show me a new skill he's picked up. She got out a poster with his name on it and showed it to him. He began pointing to each letter in turn and saying the letter out loud. He got, "A-I-D-A-bmpahgfa." He's still working on "N." Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed. Aidan got several high fives.

And then we broke out his magnetic alphabet for some on-the-floor refrigerator fun. I'll just let the video speak for itself:

I love it!!!! FYI: Cookie sheets make great magnet board. This was discovered as Piage likes the magnets too, and the twins have become a bit too "adventurous" to come into the kitchen for magnet play on the fridge!!!
